VIT-AP University honours nine unsung heroes from AP Police, fire services and APSRTC

The 80th Independence Day was celebrated grandly at VIT-AP University. The chief guest, Matli Venu Gopal Reddy, IAS, Director, Department of Women Development and Child Welfare, Government of Andhra Pradesh, attended the celebrations and unfurled the national flag.
The Chief Guest felicitated a total of nine unsung heroes from AP Police, AP Fire Services and APSRTC on the occasion (three firefighters, three APSRTC employees, and three police personnel) and presented them with mementos. Each awardee was also given a cash reward of Rs 25,000.
Speaking on the occasion, Matli Venu Gopal Reddy, IAS, Director, Department of Women Development and Child Welfare, Government of Andhra Pradesh, appreciated VIT-AP University for its social responsibility initiatives. He particularly commended the university for recognising and honouring the services of several unsung heroes every year on Independence Day and Republic Day-individuals who have made significant contributions to society and, in some cases, even sacrificed their lives while saving others.
