Uttarakhand to provide tablet funds to Class 10, 12 students through DBT

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday announced that Class 10 and 12 students enrolled in government schools will receive financial assistance through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to purchase tablets.

Dhami made the announcement while interacting with 140 students selected from across the state at the ‘Mukhyamantri Yuva Vidyarthi Manthan’ programme in Uttarakhand. He said the state government was working to modernise the education system and make it better aligned with the needs of the future, including by improving students’ access to technology.

During the interaction, the chief minister heard students’ ideas, suggestions and views on the future of Uttarakhand. He said practical and useful suggestions from the youth would be considered for incorporation into government schemes and policymaking.

Students who presented outstanding ideas during the programme were also felicitated by Dhami. Congratulating the selected participants, he said more than 2.67 lakh students from across Uttarakhand had contributed essays, ideas and suggestions as part of the campaign.

The chief minister said students had shared their views on a wide range of issues, including education, healthcare, tourism, roads, forests and environmental protection, sports, migration, self-employment and startups.

Suggestions were also received on creating new employment opportunities in villages, highlighting the students’ focus on both education and livelihood opportunities in the state.

The tablet assistance for Class 10 and 12 students is aimed at strengthening access to digital learning tools among students studying in government schools.
