US Report claims 42 Aircraft lost in Iran War including F-15, F-35 And MQ-9 Reaper Drones

A new report by the US Congressional Research Service (CRS) has claimed that at least 42 American military aircraft, including fighter jets and drones, have been lost or damaged during the ongoing war in Iran.
The report lists losses that include F-15E Strike Eagle jets, one F-35A Lightning II, an A-10 Thunderbolt II, KC-135 refuelling aircraft, an E-3 Sentry AWACS, MC-130J special operations aircraft, HH-60W helicopters, and multiple MQ-9 Reaper drones.
According to the CRS, the figures are based on available news reports, Pentagon statements, and updates from the US Central Command (CENTCOM). The US Department of Defence has not released a full official breakdown of combat losses so far.
The report also notes that operational costs of the military campaign have risen sharply, with estimates nearing $29 billion, according to Pentagon finance officials.
US officials have attributed the rising costs to repair, replacement, and operational expenses as combat operations continue in the region.
Meanwhile, Iran’s foreign minister shared the report on social media, claiming it reflects losses suffered by US forces and warning of stronger retaliation if hostilities resume.
The report highlights ongoing uncertainty over the full scale of military losses as the conflict continues amid heightened tensions in West Asia.
