Two separate factory fires, six injured after panic jump

Six people sustained injuries after they jumped from a building in panic as a blaze broke out at an adjacent factory-cum-godown in Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar on Sunday. However, no one inside the factory was injured. 
Another fire broke out at a godown storing wooden items in east Delhi's Dallupura area on Sunday, following which 16 fire tenders were rushed to the spot, though no one has received any burn injuries so far.

In the Swaroop Nagar fire, the fire broke out on the ground and first floors of a factory manufacturing judo dresses and boxing gloves. No one was inside the premises when the fire broke out, police said.
"However, panic spread among people in the building adjacent the factory, prompting six persons, including women and children, to jump from the building, resulting in injuries," a senior police officer said. All the injured were shifted to hospitals and are out of danger, he said. 

Five of the injured were shifted to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital, while another person, who reportedly jumped from the adjacent building and suffered an injury to the right leg, was taken to Government Hospital, Burari. All the injured are reported to be out of danger. The Delhi Fire Service said it received a call regarding the blaze at 11.05 am, following which 15 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Firefighting operations were launched immediately and the blaze has now been completely extinguished by the fire tenders, police said.

In a separate incident later in the afternoon,  a fire broke out at a godown storing wooden items in east Delhi's Dallupura area on Sunday, with a Delhi Fire Service officer being hospitalised after inhaling smoke while dousing the flames. Station Officer Sunil Sagar was rushed to LBS Hospital in a CATS ambulance after he inhaled smoke during the firefighting operation.

Some locals claimed that a person who used to work at the godown was missing. Officials were carrying out searches to ascertain whether anyone was trapped inside, an officer said. 

The Delhi Fire Service received a call regarding the blaze at 3.29 pm, following which 16 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The firefighting department was in the process of bringing the blaze under control and conducting search and rescue operations, according to the officer. No other injuries have been reported so far. The cause of the fire was not immediately known. Police have not issued any statement regarding the fire so far.
