34-year-old man dies after clash over Ganesh idol purchase in Hyderabad

A 34-year-old man died after a dispute over the purchase of a Ganesh idol turned violent near Jodimetla under the Pocharam IT Corridor police station limits on Sunday, September 13.
Kiran, a resident of Chowdariguda, had gone to Jodimetla with a group of people to purchase a Ganesh idol, according to reports. A disagreement reportedly arose between the group and the idol sellers over the price and purchase of the idol, eventually leading to a physical altercation.
Kiran was allegedly attacked by some of the sellers during the clash. He sustained serious injuries and was taken to Surya Hospital, where his condition later worsened. He died while undergoing treatment, doctors said.
An idol seller identified as Chogaram, who is from Rajasthan, was also injured in the incident.
After Kiran's death, his family, relatives and friends gathered near Jodimetla on the Warangal-Hyderabad National Highway to protest and demand strict action against those allegedly responsible for the assault. The demonstration led to tension on the busy highway for some time.
Police reached the location and brought the situation under control. Kiran's body was sent to the Gandhi Hospital mortuary for postmortem. Police have registered a murder case and begun an investigation.
