Trump threatens Iran with bombing if it doesn't reopen Strait of Hormuz

US President Donald Trump issued a fresh warning to Iran, threatening intensified bombing if Tehran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

The remarks come amid reports that a potential agreement is taking shape to end the ongoing conflict between the two countries. Trump indicated that the war could soon conclude and that global oil and natural gas shipments may resume, but stressed that this depends on Iran accepting the proposed terms.

“If they don't agree, the bombing starts, and it will be at a much higher level and intensity than before,” Trump said in a social media post.

He also acknowledged uncertainty over Tehran’s response, noting that it may be a “big assumption” to expect Iran to agree to the conditions laid out by the United States.

The Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy corridor, remains central to the situation, with its reopening seen as critical for stabilising international energy markets.

The developments signal heightened tensions despite parallel diplomatic efforts aimed at reaching a ceasefire agreement.
