The decision was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). Vijay, a 1998-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Maharashtra cadre, is currently serving in his home cadre state.

Following his transfer, Nilkanth S. Avhad, a 1999-batch IAS officer from the Punjab cadre, has been named as the new Secretary of NDMA.

Additionally, his cadre colleague Priyank Bharti has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) and will also hold additional charge as Director General of the National Informatics Centre (NIC).

Separately, Richa Misra from the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS) has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Department of Consumer Affairs.
