Toronto festival shooting leaves two dead, five injured; suspect still at large

At least two people were killed and five others were injured in a shooting near the Salsa on St. Clair Festival in Toronto, Canada, on Saturday evening. The incident occurred in the busy St. Clair Avenue West and Arlington Avenue area, where thousands had gathered for the annual cultural festival. Police initially issued an active shooter alert before securing the area and launching a large-scale investigation.

According to Toronto Police, the shooting appears to have involved an exchange of gunfire between individuals rather than a random attack. Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, while the injured were taken to nearby hospitals.

Authorities have recovered firearms from the area and are reviewing CCTV footage and witness accounts. No arrests have been made so far, and investigators are continuing their search for those responsible.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Ontario Premier Doug Ford, and Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow expressed condolences to the victims' families and condemned the violence. Police have urged anyone with information or videos from the scene to come forward as the investigation continues.
