Three minors drown in rainwater-filled pit at under-construction poultry farm in UP

Three boys drowned in a rainwater-filled pit at an under-construction poultry farm in Baina village of Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki district, officials said on Monday.

The incident took place late Sunday evening when the three boys, along with some other children, went to the construction site to bathe in the pit, police said.

The victims were identified as Deva, 13, Divyansh, 10, and Sumit, 12. The three entered the deep water and started drowning. Hearing their cries, villagers reached the spot and pulled Deva and Sumit out. They were taken to a private hospital, where doctors declared them dead, police said.

Divyansh could not be found initially. The Kursi police then sought the help of local divers to search the pit. After arrangements were made to provide lighting during the night, his body was recovered from the water, police said.

Following the incident, Fatehpur Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kartikeya Singh and Circle Officer Jagatram Kannaujiya visited the site and inspected the spot.

Officials confirmed that all three boys died due to drowning.  (with inputs from PTI)
