Telangana CM Revanth Reddy orders intensified probe into POCSO case against Bandi Sanjay’s son

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday ordered an intensified investigation into the POCSO case registered against Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s son, directing the Director General of Police to form special teams to expedite the probe.
The Chief Minister asked C. V. Anand to explain the delay in initiating action despite the complaint being filed on May 8, according to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office.
The DGP reportedly told the Chief Minister that police personnel were engaged in security arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Hyderabad on May 10.
The case was registered at the Pet Basheerabad Police Station following allegations of sexual harassment of a minor girl. The accused, however, has denied the charges and countered with allegations of extortion and criminal intimidation.
According to the complaint filed by the 17-year-old girl’s mother, the relationship between the girl and the accused allegedly began several months ago and later turned into a case of sexual harassment.
Police officials said the alleged relationship dates back around seven to eight months.
In a counter-complaint filed in Karimnagar, the accused claimed that the girl and her family invited him to family functions and religious visits, and later pressured him to marry her.
He further alleged that after refusing the marriage proposal, the girl’s parents demanded money and threatened false legal action. He also claimed that ₹50,000 was paid under pressure, followed by an alleged demand of ₹5 crore.
Taking cognisance of the matter, the Telangana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights directed the Cyberabad Police Commissioner to conduct a detailed inquiry and submit a status report on priority.
The Commission took suo motu note of media reports and sought immediate action in the case.
