Singer nearly buried under cash at Gujarat Dayro event, donations to fund girls hostel

A singer performing at a traditional Dayro event in Khambhaliya in Gujarat’s Dwarka district was dramatically showered with currency notes, leaving him nearly buried under a pile of cash during a live performance at a Shrimad Bhagwat Saptah.
The incident, captured on video, quickly went viral on social media, showing enthusiastic devotees throwing currency notes from all directions as the performer continued singing on stage despite the overwhelming shower of cash.
Such offerings are not uncommon at Dayro gatherings, where audiences often express devotion and appreciation through monetary contributions. However, the sheer volume of notes in this instance created a striking visual moment that stunned spectators.
Organisers later clarified that the money collected during the event was not intended for personal gain. After covering operational expenses, all remaining funds and donations will be transferred to the Ahir Charitable Trust.
The trust plans to utilise the collected amount for constructing the Gujarat Ahir Kanya Chhatralaya (girls’ hostel) and an associated educational complex in Ahmedabad, aimed at supporting girls’ education and providing safe residential facilities.
The announcement shifted attention from the viral spectacle to its social impact, with organisers emphasising that the contributions will directly benefit education and community development initiatives.
While social media users reacted with amusement to the dramatic visuals, many also appreciated the charitable purpose behind the donations, highlighting the blend of tradition, devotion, and social welfare often seen in such cultural events in Gujarat.
