Shrine built on pasture land bulldozed in UP's Sambhal

An illegal 'mazar' constructed on pasture land in Neemkheda Bajeda village of Sambhal tehsil was demolished on Monday, officials said.

Police force drawn from three stations and a platoon of the Provincial Armed Constabulary were deployed during the operation.

Naib Tehsildar Shubham Pratap Singh told reporters that the land was under the jurisdiction of Sambhal tehsil.

The land is recorded as pasture land in the 'khatauni' (land records), and an illegal encroachment was made by constructing a 'mazar' over an area of 50 square metres, he said.

Circle Officer (Asmoli) Aman Singh said the mazar was bulldozed at the tehsildar's order.

The mazar was built on a 1.493-hectare tract of the government land.
