Delhi govt orders action against Maujpur school over alleged toddler abuse

The Delhi government has initiated proceedings to seal a playschool in Maujpur following the alleged severe assault of a three-year-old boy, the Chief Minister's Office said on Monday, August 31.

The action was taken on the directions of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta after the government took serious note of the incident.

"Delhi government has taken serious cognisance of the deeply disturbing incident reported from a playschool in Maujpur. On the directions of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the district magistrate has initiated proceedings to seal the school premises. Police investigation is underway," the CMO said in a post on X.

The government also said it would ensure that responsibility was fixed and that anyone found guilty would face strict action under the law.

The incident came to light after the child's family raised allegations of abuse at the school. Police have registered a case against the school's director, principal, a teacher and a caretaker, sources said.

The three-year-old boy has also undergone a medical examination at GTB Hospital, they said.

According to the child's family, he was allegedly beaten at the school and subjected to inappropriate conduct.

The family said they became suspicious after noticing changes in the child's behaviour, including alleged difficulty sleeping and fear of using the toilet.

The police investigation into the allegations is underway.
