Bomb threat note on tissue paper forces Air India flight to land in Ahmedabad

An Air India flight from Dammam in Saudi Arabia to New Delhi, carrying 32 passengers, made an emergency landing at Ahmedabad airport on Monday, August 31, after a crew member found a tissue paper bearing a message claiming there was a "bomb" on board, police said.

The pilots decided to divert the Delhi-bound aircraft to Ahmedabad after the threat message was discovered, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), 'G' Division, VN Yadav said.

"The aircraft made an emergency landing at the Ahmedabad International Airport at around 4:30 pm after a crew member found a tissue paper having text 'bomb' written on it," Yadav said.

Security agencies conducted a thorough search of the aircraft but found nothing suspicious, the ACP said.

All 32 passengers on board the flight were safe and had been accommodated at Terminal 2 of the Ahmedabad airport, he said.

An investigation has been launched to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the threat message, the police officer added.
