Seven TTP militants killed in Pakistan’s North Waziristan operation

Security forces in Pakistan killed seven militants of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Friday, an official said.

The operation was carried out in the Eidak area, where several militant hideouts were also destroyed, according to the official.

The operation was conducted under the government’s Azm-e-Istehkam vision as part of its ongoing counterterrorism campaign. The Pakistani government uses the term “Fitna al Khawarij” for the TTP.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which borders Afghanistan, has witnessed repeated militant attacks and security operations in recent years. The TTP has continued to carry out attacks in the province since its ceasefire agreement with the Pakistani government collapsed in November 2022.

The region has also remained affected by concerns over cross-border movement of militants from Afghanistan, adding to security challenges for Pakistani authorities.
