Sergey Lavrov warns Journalist during Delhi Briefing at BRICS Summit says "They Will Take Out Gun"

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov sparked attention during a media briefing in New Delhi after warning a journalist over repeated disruptions during a press interaction held on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit.

The tense moment occurred when a journalist was allegedly speaking on the phone while Lavrov was answering questions. The interruption reportedly happened multiple times, prompting the Russian minister to pause the briefing and ask security officials to intervene.

“Can you just leave us? It's either you yourself or your phone,” Lavrov said before continuing with the interaction.

However, after another interruption moments later, Lavrov responded more sharply and warned, “Can you leave us? I am not joking. If you don't surrender your phone, they will take out the gun.”

The video of the exchange quickly went viral on social media platforms.

Lavrov is currently in India for the BRICS Summit, where he also held a series of high-level meetings with Indian leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, discussions between PM Modi and Lavrov focused on strengthening the India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership, along with ongoing geopolitical developments in Ukraine and West Asia.

Lavrov also held bilateral talks with Jaishankar, where both sides reviewed cooperation across sectors and discussed regional and global issues. The Russian minister reiterated Moscow’s support for India’s priorities at international forums including BRICS, the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and the G20.
