Rs 551.5 crore allocated for Sabarimala pilgrimage preparations: Satheesan

Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan said on Sunday that the government has allocated Rs 551.5 crore to the Public Works Department (PWD) for preparations for the Sabarimala pilgrimage.
According to a statement issued by his office, the previous government had allocated Rs 377.80 crore in 2025-26 and Rs 326.97 crore in 2024-25 for preparations related to the pilgrimage.
Satheesan said the latest allocation was made following a proposal submitted by State Public Works Minister P K Basheer after a meeting to review preparations for the pilgrimage.
Earlier this week, Satheesan had said that the state government and the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) would work together to ensure a smooth pilgrimage for devotees during the upcoming Mandalakala-Makaravilakku season at Sabarimala.
The Mandalakala-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season this year is scheduled to begin in mid-November and conclude in the third week of January next year. (with inputs from PTI)
