Russian missile and drone attack on Kyiv kills 10, injures 46

At least 10 people were killed and 46 others injured after Russia launched a large-scale missile and drone attack on Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, earlier today, authorities said. The overnight assault struck residential areas across the city, leaving several buildings damaged or destroyed and trapping residents under the rubble.
According to Kyiv City Military Administration chief Tymur Tkachenko, a residential building in the Podilskyi district partially collapsed after sustaining a direct hit, while multiple high-rise apartment buildings in the Darnytsia district were also severely damaged. Rescue teams continued search operations through the debris in an effort to locate survivors.
The attack involved waves of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones, triggering air raid sirens and explosions across Kyiv. Hundreds of residents sought shelter in metro stations as Ukraine's air defence systems attempted to intercept the incoming projectiles.

The assault came just hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russia was preparing another major attack on the capital. The latest strike follows a deadly Russian bombardment last week that claimed at least 31 lives in Kyiv, highlighting the continued escalation of the conflict.
Following the attack, Zelenskyy once again appealed to Ukraine's Western allies to strengthen the country's air defence capabilities by supplying additional Patriot missile systems and interceptors. He said delays in replenishing Ukraine's defences only encourage Russia to intensify its military campaign and prolong the more than four-year-long war.
Emergency services remained at the affected sites, clearing debris, treating the injured and searching for those feared trapped. Ukrainian officials condemned the attack, describing it as another deliberate strike on civilian infrastructure.
