Rajasthan Congress to discuss candidates, campaign strategy for Panchayati Raj polls

The Rajasthan Congress will hold a series of meetings on Wednesday to chalk out its strategy for the upcoming Panchayati Raj elections, including candidate selection, campaign planning and coordination among local leaders, party state president Govind Singh Dotasra said.

A meeting of the party's core committee will be held first, followed by a meeting of district presidents, district in-charges and co-incharges at the Pradesh Congress Committee office.

Dotasra, state in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Leader of Opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly Tika Ram Jully are among the senior leaders scheduled to attend the meetings.

The core committee will discuss local issues and formulate the party's campaign against the BJP government, Dotasra said.

The Congress is also expected to deliberate on setting up divisional campaign committees and preparing its manifesto for the panchayat elections.

District-level leaders will be asked to coordinate with local leaders, MLAs and MPs for selecting candidates, he said.

The Congress has already begun preparations for the polls, including organising a workers' conference at Degana in Nagaur district.

The party is also looking to strengthen coordination and improve candidate selection following the recent urban local body elections.

The Panchayati Raj elections in Rajasthan will be held in four phases from October 22 to November 16.
