Canadian citizen alleges forced potency test, Rs 2 crore demand in Hyderabad

Hyderabad police have registered a case after a 27-year-old Canadian citizen alleged that his wife and her relatives coerced him into undergoing a penile Doppler test. He also accused them of withholding his identity documents and later demanding Rs 2 crore.
The Punjagutta police registered the case on October 5 under Section 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police acted after obtaining permission from the XIV Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate because the alleged offence is non-cognisable.
According to the FIR, the complainant lives in Dommarapochampally in Medchal-Malkajgiri district. His written complaint was submitted on October 2, and the court granted permission to register the case on October 3.
The man alleged that his wife and members of her family took his Canadian passport, Canadian citizenship card, OCI card and original birth certificate without his knowledge on September 7. He said this occurred in connection with an allegation concerning his sexual potency.
He further alleged that they threatened him and his parents on September 9 and compelled him to attend a consultation at Deccan Hospital in Somajiguda. He claimed that he was subjected to pressure and coercion over a penile Doppler test during the visit.
The complaint alleges that his wife, one of her relatives who worked as a manager at the hospital, and another relative pressured him to undergo the procedure. He claimed that returning his passport and other documents was made conditional on completing the test.
The complainant told police that he had not voluntarily agreed to undergo the procedure in the manner alleged. He claimed that he suffered severe pain and mental trauma after the test and was concerned about possible long-term effects.
He further alleged that his wife and other family members subsequently claimed he was impotent and began demanding Rs 2 crore from him. The FIR records these as the complainant's allegations and does not contain findings establishing them.
Police assigned the investigation to a sub-inspector at Punjagutta police station. The FIR does not record responses from the accused or Deccan Hospital to the allegations.
