President Murmu congratulates junior men's, women's hockey teams on Asia Cup triumphs

President Droupadi Murmu on Monday congratulated India's junior men's and women's hockey teams for their Asia Cup triumphs, saying their dedication, discipline and teamwork had brought immense pride to the country.

"Heartiest congratulations to our Junior Men's and Women's Hockey Teams on their outstanding victories in the Asia Cup. Their dedication, discipline and teamwork have brought immense pride to the nation," Murmu said in a post on X.

"It is heartening to see young players setting inspiring examples of channelling positive energy for excellence. My best wishes to all the young players for continued success in the future," she added.

The Indian junior women's team defeated China 1-0 in a closely fought final on Sunday to win the AHF Junior Asia Cup title and qualify for the Junior Women's Hockey World Cup.

The junior men's team also successfully defended its Junior Asia Cup crown, defeating Korea 4-1 in the final at Moqi in China on Sunday to book its place in the World Cup.
