PM to inaugurate Ganga Expressway in Hardoi on April 29

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh on April 29 in Hardoi district, an official statement announced on Saturday. The 594-km-long expressway, one of the flagship projects of the Yogi Adityanath Government, will connect Meerut to Prayagraj.
According to the statement, the project received cabinet approval in 2020 and was implemented as a priority. The expressway originates from Bijoli village in Meerut and terminates near Judapur Dandu village in Prayagraj, linking western and eastern Uttar Pradesh. The expressway will pass through 12 districts — Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Raebareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj — and is expected to benefit over 500 villages by boosting economic activity in both rural and urban areas. Officials noted that Uttar Pradesh currently accounts for about 55 per cent of the country’s expressway network, and with the addition of the Ganga Expressway, the share is projected to rise to nearly 60 per cent.
The project is expected to reduce logistics costs, facilitate faster movement of goods and act as an industrial corridor, attracting investments and generating employment opportunities. It is also likely to benefit farmers by enabling quicker transportation of agricultural produce to markets, thereby improving returns.
Additionally, improved connectivity is expected to promote religious and cultural tourism, particularly to Prayagraj and nearby regions, strengthening local economies, the statement said.
