PM Modi's Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand visit to boost India's Act East Policy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said his visits to Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand will further strengthen India's Act East Policy and deepen strategic partnerships across the Indo-Pacific. The six-day, three-nation tour aims to expand cooperation in trade, defence, connectivity, maritime security and emerging technologies.

Modi will begin his visit in Indonesia, where he will hold talks with President Prabowo Subianto to review bilateral ties and explore new avenues of cooperation. The discussions are expected to focus on maritime collaboration, economic engagement, regional security and cultural exchanges.

The Prime Minister will then travel to Australia for the Annual India-Australia Summit with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. The two leaders are expected to review progress under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and discuss defence, critical minerals, trade, clean energy and technology cooperation.

In the final leg of the tour, Modi will visit New Zealand, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country in around four decades. He is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Christopher Luxon to strengthen bilateral ties, boost economic cooperation and enhance people-to-people exchanges.

The Ministry of External Affairs said the three-nation visit reflects India's growing engagement with the Indo-Pacific and reinforces the government's commitment to the Act East Policy, aimed at building stronger political, economic and strategic partnerships in the region.
