PM Modi commissions 3 Indigenous Naval Platforms, highlights India’s growing maritime strength

PM Narendra Modi commissioned three indigenously built naval platforms INS Dunagiri, INS Sanshodhak, and INS Agray at a landmark ceremony in Kolkata, describing the occasion as a major step towards strengthening India's maritime capabilities and defence self-reliance.
He emphasized that the country's development, security, and prosperity are closely linked to the strength of its maritime sector and naval forces.
During his address, the Prime Minister highlighted the significance of indigenous defence manufacturing under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
He noted that the three platforms represent India's growing expertise in advanced shipbuilding, maritime surveillance, hydrographic surveying, and anti-submarine warfare. The vessels were designed and built in India, reflecting the combined efforts of the Indian Navy, public sector shipyards, private industry, and MSMEs.
INS Dunagiri is an advanced stealth frigate, INS Sanshodhak is a modern survey vessel, and INS Agray is designed for anti-submarine warfare operations. Together, they will enhance the Navy’s combat readiness, maritime domain awareness, and coastal security capabilities.
Modi said the commissioning reflects India's commitment to becoming a leading maritime power while strengthening national security and safeguarding strategic interests in the Indian Ocean region. He added that the induction of these vessels marks another milestone in the country's journey toward defence modernisation and self-reliance.
