Nitish’s son likely to join Bihar Cabinet

Nishant Kumar, son of Nitish Kumar, has agreed to join the Bihar cabinet led by Samrat Choudhary and is likely to be sworn in during Thursday’s expansion, sources said. The 45-year-old, who joined the Janata Dal (United) less than two months ago, had earlier resisted taking office despite pressure from party leaders. He reportedly preferred to gain experience as a party worker before accepting a ministerial role. His induction follows Nitish Kumar’s resignation as chief minister after entering the Rajya Sabha, paving the way for a new Government headed by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Initial speculation about Nishant’s inclusion had not materialised, with senior JD(U) leaders instead appointed as deputy chief ministers. The cabinet expansion, expected to include around a dozen ministers, will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Allies such as LJPRV, HAM, and RLM may also be represented. JD(U) aims to secure up to 16 berths in the 30-member cabinet of the 243-seat Bihar Assembly.
