Pakistan extends airspace ban for Indian aircraft till Oct 24

Pakistan on Wednesday extended its airspace restrictions on Indian aircraft by another month, with the ban now in effect until October 24, according to the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA).

A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by the PAA said Pakistani airspace was unavailable to Indian-registered aircraft as well as aircraft owned, operated or leased by Indian airlines and operators, including military flights.

The extension came into effect at 10:45 am on Wednesday and will remain in force until 4:59 am on October 24, 2026, the notice said.

The previous extension of the restriction was scheduled to expire on September 24.

India and Pakistan imposed reciprocal airspace restrictions on each other's airlines following the Pahalgam terrorist attack in April 2025.

Pakistan's airspace is divided into two flight information regions (FIRs) -- Karachi and Lahore, according to a 2022 document of the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority. The latest NOTAM applies to both the Karachi and Lahore FIRs.
