Padma Jaiswal says not aware of Centre Suspension Order Report

Senior IAS oficer Padma Jaiswal has said she is not aware of any dismissal or suspension order reportedly issued against her by the Centre, amid media reports of rare disciplinary action.

Jaiswal, a 2003-batch AGMUT cadre Indian Administrative Service officer, currently serves as special secretary in the administrative reforms department of the Delhi government.

According to earlier reports, she was allegedly removed from service in a rare action initiated by the Centre based on recommendations and long-pending disciplinary proceedings.

However, when contacted, she denied receiving any such official communication, stating that she was “not aware of any such development or any dismissal order being passed.”

The reported action is linked to allegations dating back to 2007–08, when she was serving as deputy commissioner of Arunachal Pradesh’s West Kameng district. A complaint filed in 2008 accused her of alleged misuse of official position and misappropriation of government revenue.

She was placed under suspension in 2008, which was later revoked in 2010, as per reports.

The case reportedly went through multiple stages of disciplinary proceedings under Rule 8 of the All India Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, involving consultation with the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) and the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

Sources said the matter was reviewed by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), which oversees AGMUT cadre officers, and the final decision was reportedly cleared at the highest level.

Earlier, the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) had set aside proceedings against her, but the Centre challenged the ruling in the Delhi High Court, which later ruled in its favour.

The matter remains under discussion as official confirmation from the government is still awaited.
