Over 44.73 crore Ayushman cards created under AB-PMJAY: Govt

 

Replying to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, July 28, Minister of State for Health Prataprao Jadhav told the Parliament that over 44.73 crore Ayushman cards have been issued under the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), and more than 12.69 crore hospital admissions worth Rs 1.92 lakh crore have been authorised under the scheme, providing cashless treatment to eligible beneficiaries.

Jadhav expressed that the current National Master Health Benefit Package (HBP-2022) offers cashless healthcare through 1,961 treatment packages across 27 medical specialities.

The packages cover a wide range of secondary and tertiary care services, including treatment for non-communicable diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, chronic kidney disease, diabetes-related complications, stroke, chronic respiratory diseases, neurological disorders and liver diseases, he mentioned.

The minister said that the government is also strengthening the healthcare system through nearly 1.86 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs established across the country, which serve as the first point of contact for citizens and provide a link between primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare providing hospitals. 

He added that tertiary healthcare infrastructure has also been significantly expanded through the establishment of new AIIMS and medical colleges to meet the country's growing healthcare needs.
