Ola Electric shifts to dealer-led sales model, opens network to partners nationwide

Ola Electric on Thursday, Aug 6th announced it will open its sales and service network to dealer partners across India, marking a major shift in its retail strategy as the electric vehicle maker looks to accelerate growth and expand its presence nationwide.

The company said its company-owned outlets will gradually transition into brand and product experience centres, while dealer partners will take the lead in local sales, service and expansion over the coming months.

The move comes five years after Ola Electric launched its first electric scooters using a direct-to-consumer model. The company said it now has an installed base of more than one million EV two-wheeler customers and believes the maturing EV market is ready for a dealer-led approach.

“This is a big shift in how we go to market, and one that reflects where the EV industry in India is headed,” Chairman and Managing Director Bhavish Aggarwal said. He said the company initially built its own retail network to establish consumer trust in electric vehicles but now aims to leverage dealers' local market expertise to take EVs deeper into towns and cities.

According to Ola Electric, dealer partners will benefit from the company's established brand, recurring service business from its existing customer base, a product portfolio spanning scooters, motorcycles and energy solutions, and a business model designed to deliver sustainable returns.

The company said it has received encouraging feedback from dealers following nationwide engagements over the past month and expects the programme to achieve significant on-ground scale by Diwali 2026.

Ola Electric also announced that automobile industry veteran BVR Subbu, former President of Hyundai Motor India, will rejoin the company as Senior Advisor to support the rollout of the new dealer network.
