NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam Scheduled for June 21

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination will be conducted on June 21, Sunday, following the cancellation of the exam held on May 3. The decision comes amid serious allegations of paper leak and examination irregularities that affected lakhs of medical aspirants across India.

Earlier, the NTA cancelled the NEET-UG 2026 exam after inputs from central agencies and findings shared by law enforcement authorities indicated possible malpractice. The agency stated that the exam process could not be allowed to stand in its current form and that the re-exam would be conducted at a later date with fresh scheduling of admit cards and guidelines.

The controversy began after reports emerged of a “guess paper” allegedly circulating among students weeks before the examination. Investigators found that the document contained hundreds of questions, many of which reportedly matched the actual NEET question paper. Authorities claimed that several Chemistry and Biology questions showed striking similarities to the exam conducted on May 3.

Further investigation revealed that the suspected material was circulated through messaging platforms, including WhatsApp groups, shortly before the exam. The Rajasthan Police Special Operations Group is also probing whether the leaked content was part of a larger organised cheating network.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has widened its probe into the case, examining a possible insider role in the leak. Several arrests have already been made across multiple states, including individuals allegedly involved in circulating and monetising the leaked material. The agency is also scrutinising individuals who had access to the question paper during its preparation and translation process.

Officials stated that translation teams, subject experts, and others involved in handling the exam papers are under review as part of standard security protocol. Investigators are also probing financial transactions linked to the alleged leak network.

With the case expanding, authorities have assured a comprehensive investigation while preparing for the smooth conduct of the NEET UG 2026 re-examination on June 21.
