Mumbai Youth Congress protests over NEET paper leak, seeks JPC probe

Youth Congress workers on Wednesday staged a protest in south Mumbai against the alleged leak of the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) question paper and demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the issue.
The protest was held outside the state CET Cell office in Fort area under the leadership of Mumbai Youth Congress president Zeenat Shabreen.
The protesters raised slogans against the BJP-led Central Government.
Shabreen alleged that the paper leak has jeopardised the future of nearly 2.4 million students and shattered the aspirations of their parents.
She said Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan should resign immediately on moral grounds, and students affected by the alleged irregularities should be compensated.
Shabreen also called for the constitution of a JPC to conduct a detailed investigation into the matter.
She also alleged that the former Director General of the National Testing Agency (NTA), during whose tenure the 2024 NEET paper leak allegedly took place, was subsequently appointed as the principal adviser to the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh.
Police detained several Youth Congress office-bearers and workers who participated in the demonstration, the organisers said.
The NEET (UG) 2026 exam for admission to undergraduate courses in medical colleges, held on May 3, was cancelled on Tuesday amid allegations of paper leak. The Government asked the CBI to carry out a comprehensive inquiry into the “irregularities”.
