Mumbai-Pune Rail Disruption: Ashwini Vaishnaw reviews restoration work after landslides

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reviewed the disruption of train services on the Mumbai-Pune Ghat section after heavy rainfall triggered landslides and boulders fell onto railway tracks. He directed officials to speed up restoration work and ensure train operations resume at the earliest.
Vaishnaw said teams from both Central Railway and Western Railway have been instructed to work together to restore services quickly despite forecasts of continued heavy rain. He added that railway personnel are fully prepared to handle the situation and minimise inconvenience to passengers.
The disruption occurred after multiple landslides were reported near Thakurwadi and between Khandala and Monkey Hill in the Karjat-Lonavala Bhor Ghat section, affecting all three railway lines. Several trains, including the Deccan Queen, Indrayani Express, Intercity Express, Pragati Express and Sinhagad Express, were cancelled, while many long-distance services were diverted or rescheduled.
Railway authorities have advised passengers to check the latest train status before travelling. Restoration work is underway, with emergency teams deployed to clear debris and restore normal operations as quickly as possible.
