Massive fire breaks out at cold storage unit in Lucknow; firefighters battle blaze

A massive fire broke out at a cold storage unit in Lucknow on Sunday, triggering a large-scale firefighting operation as thick plumes of smoke engulfed the surrounding area. Multiple fire tenders were rushed to the spot, and firefighters worked for hours to prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby structures. 

According to officials, the fire erupted at the cold storage facility in the city's outskirts. While the exact cause of the blaze is yet to be determined, preliminary reports suggest that combustible materials stored inside the premises may have fuelled the fire, making it difficult to bring under control. 

Fire department personnel launched an intensive operation immediately after receiving the alert. Several fire engines were deployed, and water tankers were pressed into service to douse the flames. Authorities also cordoned off the area as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety. 

No casualties or injuries were reported at the time of filing this report. However, officials said the firefighting operation was still underway, and the extent of damage to the cold storage unit would be assessed once the fire was completely extinguished. 

Police and local administration officials also reached the site to monitor the situation and assist emergency teams. An investigation will be launched to ascertain the cause of the fire after the cooling operation is completed. 

The incident comes just days after a devastating fire at a commercial building in Lucknow's Aliganj claimed multiple lives, prompting authorities to intensify inspections of fire safety measures across the city.
