Marandi says BJP is dedicated for tribal development

Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi asserts that the BJP has consistently worked for tribal welfare, pointing to the creation of Jharkhand under Atal Bihari Vajpayee and national recognitions like declaring Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas.

Marandi, while addressing the oath-taking ceremony of Sunny Toppo, newly appointed BJP state ST Morcha president, said that he is confident Sunny Toppo will further strengthen the BJP organization among the tribal community. Urging Sunny, he said that you should form your team by taking along all 35 tribal communities in the state.

Attacking JMM and Congress, he said that Jharkhand would have become a separate state much earlier, but while Congress tried to buy the movement with money, JMM worked to sell the movement.

He said that the BJP had promised that whenever our government is formed at the center, we will give a separate state of Jharkhand, and the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government of the BJP fulfilled its promise. From this, it can be understood who the true well-wisher of the tribal society is? Giving credit for the formation of a separate state of Jharkhand—the long-standing demand of tribals and indigenous people—to Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the center, he said that if anyone has given true respect to the tribal society, it is the BJP. If anyone has valued the sentiments of the people here, it is the BJP.

He said that after independence, no tribal had ever attained the country's highest post, but the BJP government honored the tribal community by making a tribal woman the President of the country. The BJP announced the celebration of Tribal Pride Day (Janjatiya Gaurav Divas) on November 15, and today the country has got the opportunity to know about the tribal leaders who played an important role in the country's freedom struggle.

He said that JMM spread rumors that if the BJP comes, tribals' land will be snatched. The BJP has never looted or snatched the land of the tribal society, whether it was the government of Babulal Marandi, Arjun Munda, Madhu Koda, or Champai Soren. But whenever the JMM government has been formed, JMM people have worked to loot tribal land from Dumka to Ranchi. Under the protection of this government, a second RIMS (RIMS 2) is being forcibly built on tribal society land in Nagri. He said that under the leadership of Congress, the tribal society here has been displaced for years in the name of development and setting up factories.

Newly appointed State President of BJP Scheduled Tribe Morcha, Sunny Toppo, took charge at the party's state office on Wednesday. On this occasion, a large number of workers arrived from different districts of the state. Workers welcomed Sunny Toppo to the accompaniment of traditional drums and rhythms.
