Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi says Government extending insurance cover to crores of families

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the government is extending the protective shield of insurance to crores of Indian families through various social security schemes, highlighting their role in providing financial protection to citizens during times of crisis. Speaking during the 135th episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister said these initiatives have transformed the lives of millions across the country.
Modi said schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana have enabled people, particularly those from economically weaker sections, to access affordable insurance coverage. He noted that the government's efforts are aimed at ensuring that every family has a financial safety net during unforeseen circumstances.
Highlighting the impact of these initiatives, the Prime Minister shared examples of beneficiaries who received timely financial assistance under the insurance schemes. He said the programmes have offered security and confidence to countless families, helping them cope with accidents and unexpected tragedies without severe financial hardship.
During the broadcast, Modi also praised India's growing self-reliance in the defence sector, citing the indigenous manufacturing of the C-295 transport aircraft and other defence equipment. He said the country's journey "from seas to skies" reflects its expanding technological capabilities and commitment to Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
The Prime Minister further appreciated the discipline and unity shown by Indians during the recent Middle East crisis and urged citizens to remain vigilant against superstition and misinformation. He encouraged people to adopt scientific thinking and continue contributing positively to nation-building.
