Man stabbed to death on Mumbai Local Train after dispute over closing door

A 22-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death inside a Mumbai local train following an argument over shutting the coach door during heavy rainfall, police said. The incident took place in a first-class compartment of a Western Railway local train between Andheri and Borivali stations.
According to investigators, the altercation broke out when passengers argued over whether the train door should be kept open or closed amid the rain. The disagreement escalated into a violent confrontation, during which the victim was allegedly attacked with a sharp weapon.
The injured man was rushed for medical treatment but later succumbed to his injuries. Police have launched an investigation and are working to identify and apprehend those involved in the attack.
The incident has once again raised concerns about passenger safety on Mumbai's overcrowded suburban railway network, particularly during the monsoon season when congestion inside coaches often leads to disputes among commuters.
Authorities are examining CCTV footage and recording witness statements to establish the exact sequence of events. Further investigation is underway.
