Man dies after fight over Rs 700 dispute in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A 43-year-old man died after an alleged fight over a Rs 700 dispute in Santoshnagar during the early hours of Friday. IS Sadan police registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and began an investigation.

The deceased was identified as Mohammed Iliyas, a private employee and resident of Banu Nagar. According to the FIR, Iliyas left his house around 1 am after receiving a call from his friend Moin.

At about 1.40 am, a resident informed the family that Iliyas was lying motionless near Masqati Ice Cream Shop on CRIDA Road. His family found him unconscious with a head injury and took him to Owaisi Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

The complainant, Iliyas’s elder brother Mohammed Riyaz, told police that the deceased had taken Rs 700 from Anwar about two months earlier. The money was allegedly collected for arranging a new SIM card and had not been returned.

The complaint alleged that Taseen and Moin called Iliyas to the ice-cream shop. Taseen allegedly transferred Rs 700 to Vivek at the shop, who then transferred the amount to Anwar.

Taseen and Moin subsequently asked Iliyas to speak to Anwar using Vivek’s mobile phone, according to the complaint. Anwar then arrived at the shop, where he and Iliyas allegedly abused and struck each other.

The FIR stated that Iliyas collapsed while walking home after the altercation. Police named Anwar, Moin and Taseen in the FIR and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
