Man charred to death after running car catches fire in Kerala's Venganoor

A man was charred to death after a car caught fire while it was being driven at Venganoor here early on Monday, police said.

The incident took place around midnight near Mahatma Ayyankali Smarakam, when the moving car suddenly caught fire, according to police.

An autorickshaw driver who saw the vehicle on fire, along with a minor explosion, informed the police. Fire and Rescue Services personnel were then sent to the spot. The fire was later brought under control, but the car was completely gutted. The man inside the vehicle was found dead, officials said.

Police said they have not yet been able to establish the identity of the deceased or the registration number of the car, as both were badly damaged in the fire.

CCTV footage from the area is being examined to trace the vehicle's registration number and establish the identity of the deceased, police said.  (with inputs from PTI)
