Maharashtra Govt signs MoU with Cleveland Clinic

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday announced that the Government of Maharashtra has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cleveland Clinic, Brookfield Asset Management and Arodhan Health City to develop the Navi Mumbai International MediCity (NMIMC), a healthcare, research and innovation ecosystem for India.

The project will see a global investment of USD 1.2 billion, spread over 250 acres, and is expected to create 10,000 jobs. Cleveland Clinic will be the anchor partner for the initiative, which aims to integrate world-class patient care with medical education, research, AI, genomics and innovation at scale.

Expressing elation over the partnership, the Chief Minister said the MediCity would combine clinical excellence with cutting-edge research and technology. “This is more than just a healthcare project. Together we shall create healing wonders,” he said, congratulating Maharashtra and Bharat on the launch.

According to Fadnavis, the project aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Heal in India’ vision and marks a bold step towards establishing India as a global destination for healthcare, research and medical innovation.

The signing coincided with Prime Minister Modi completing 4,399 days in office, noted as a record for the longest-serving elected Prime Minister.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Cleveland Clinic CEO Dr Tomislav Mihaljevic, Dr Sameer Kapadia, Chairman of Cardiovascular Medicine, Board Member Lakshmi Mittal, Executive Chairman of Arcelor Mittal, and Dr Falcone, President of Emerging Markets, from Ohio, USA, along with officials from all partner organisations.
