LPG tanker ‘Symi’ reaches Kandla after crossing Strait of Hormuz

The Marshall Islands-flagged LPG tanker Symi has safely arrived at Gujarat’s Kandla Port after successfully passing through the Strait of Hormuz, a highly important and strategically sensitive global shipping route. The journey comes at a time of rising tensions and security concerns in the Middle East.

The tanker was carrying nearly 20,000 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), including propane and butane, which are important for meeting India’s energy requirements. According to officials, the vessel crossed the Strait of Hormuz on May 13 and reached Deendayal Port without facing any disruptions during its journey.

The ship reportedly had 21 crew members on board, including Ukrainian and Filipino nationals. Its smooth arrival is being viewed as a positive sign for the uninterrupted movement of energy supplies to India despite growing geopolitical tensions in the region.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important maritime trade routes, through which a large amount of global oil and energy cargo passes daily. Authorities continue to closely monitor developments and shipping activity in the region.
