LNG Carrier Disha reaches Dahej Port after safe passage through Strait of Hormuz

LNG carrier Disha arrived safely at Dahej Port in Gujarat after successfully transiting the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, marking a significant development for India’s energy supply chain amid recent disruptions in the region. The vessel carried approximately 62,370 metric tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and completed its journey following the resumption of shipping activity through the crucial maritime corridor.

The arrival of Disha comes at a time when global shipping companies remain cautious about navigating the Strait of Hormuz due to lingering security concerns despite diplomatic efforts to restore stability in West Asia. The vessel is among the first LNG carriers to successfully make the transit after recent geopolitical tensions affected maritime traffic in the region.

Officials said the safe passage of the carrier has boosted confidence in the movement of other India-bound vessels waiting to cross the strategic waterway. The development is expected to support the continuity of India’s energy imports and ease concerns over potential supply disruptions.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical energy transit routes, handling a significant share of global oil and LNG shipments. The successful arrival of Disha highlights the resilience of India's energy logistics network amid ongoing regional uncertainties.
