Leh violence: Ladakh LG Saxena drops cases against 20 people

Lieutenant Governor, Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, on Wednesday approved the withdrawal of criminal cases against 20 individuals related to the unfortunate violence that erupted in Leh on September 24, 2025.

The announcement came on the eve of the first anniversary of the Leh violence, in which four people were killed.

In a post on X, the Office of LG Ladakh said, In the larger interest of peace, public tranquillity, and social harmony in Ladakh, I have approved the withdrawal of criminal cases against 20 individuals related to the unfortunate violence that erupted in Leh on September 24 last year.

According to an official statement posted on X, “Following a comprehensive review, the Ladakh police recommended a closure report for 20 individuals, in FIR no. 144/2005, registered at PS - Leh, under section 360 of the BNSS”.

LG, Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, in a post on X, said, “I extend my sincere gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his constant guidance and sympathetic approach in matters related to the victims and their families.
