Operator killed after earthmover plunges into quarry in Jaipur

A 30-year-old earthmover operator was killed after the machine he was operating slipped and plunged into a deep stone quarry in Jaipur's Daulatpura police station area, police said on Tuesday.

The accident occurred at Khora Shyamdas on Monday evening, when the earthmoving machine suddenly slipped while work was underway at the quarry.

The operator, identified as Chetlal Pandit, also fell into the pit and died in the accident, police said.

Pandit, a native of Hazaribagh district in Jharkhand, had been operating earthmoving machines for around eight to 10 years, according to police.

Police reached the site after receiving information about the accident and shifted the body to the mortuary at Kanwatia Hospital.

The body will be handed over to Pandit's family after a post-mortem examination, police said.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
