Iran launches ‘Eye-for-an-Eye’ operation, strikes US-linked bases as rising Gulf tensions

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has launched what it called an “eye-for-an-eye” operation, claiming missile and drone strikes against US-linked military bases in the Gulf region in retaliation for recent American attacks.

The IRGC said the latest strikes targeted American military facilities in countries including Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan, describing the action as the third phase of its retaliatory operation. The force also warned against further US involvement in regional affairs and tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy shipping route.

The escalation comes amid growing hostilities between Washington and Tehran, with both sides exchanging military strikes and warnings. Iran has accused the US of carrying out attacks on its territory, while Washington has maintained that its actions were aimed at countering threats and protecting its forces in the region.

Kuwait and other Gulf nations reported heightened security measures, with air defence systems activated after reports of incoming threats. Officials in the region have continued monitoring developments as fears grow over a wider conflict affecting energy markets and regional stability.

The latest confrontation has also raised concerns over the future of diplomatic efforts between Iran and the United States. International mediators have been attempting to prevent further escalation and encourage a return to negotiations amid the continuing crisis.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a major focus of the standoff due to its importance for global oil and gas shipments. Any prolonged disruption in the region could have wider economic implications, particularly for energy markets.
