India warns China over Pakistan terror support; MEA raises concern on reputation and standing

The Ministry of External Affairs issued a strong statement, stating that China should reflect on whether its reported support to Pakistan’s terrorist infrastructure impacts its global reputation and standing.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal made the remarks during a weekly press briefing in New Delhi when asked about reports suggesting China’s alleged on-ground support to Pakistan during Operation Sindoor in May 2025.

Responding to the question, Jaiswal said India had already taken note of such reports and emphasized that responsible nations must consider the consequences of supporting or shielding terrorist infrastructure. He added that such actions could affect a country’s international credibility.

He described Operation Sindoor as a “precise, targeted, and calibrated response” to the April 22, 2025 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The operation was aimed at destroying state-sponsored terrorist infrastructure operating from Pakistan.

According to official statements, Indian armed forces carried out strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan on the night of May 6–7, 2025, eliminating over 100 terrorists. The conflict concluded on May 10 after Pakistan requested a ceasefire, which India accepted, though officials maintain that the operation remains only “paused.”

Earlier, Lieutenant General Rahul Singh had alleged that Pakistan received real-time operational inputs during the conflict, including support linked to China. He also pointed to involvement of other countries in the broader conflict scenario.

Further reports have also highlighted claims regarding foreign assistance to Pakistan during the brief escalation, though India has consistently maintained its position on safeguarding national security and countering terrorism.
