India sends humanitarian aid to earthquake-hit Venezuela

India has launched Operation Amistad to provide humanitarian assistance to earthquake-hit Venezuela, reinforcing its commitment to supporting the country's relief and recovery efforts.
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar announced that two Indian Air Force C-17 transport aircraft have departed for Venezuela carrying emergency relief materials. The mission, named Operation Amistad—which means "friendship" in Spanish—aims to assist those affected by the devastating earthquake.

The aid package includes an Indian Army Field Hospital Unit, more than 35 tonnes of relief supplies, medicines and critical medical equipment. India has also dispatched two BHISHM Cubes, portable emergency medical units designed for rapid deployment during disaster response operations.
Dr. Jaishankar said India stands firmly with the government and people of Venezuela during this challenging period and remains committed to extending all possible humanitarian support.
The relief mission reflects India's ongoing role in global disaster response and its emphasis on providing timely humanitarian assistance to countries facing natural calamities.
