Hyderabad man’s heartfelt post for a ‘good samaritan’ Rapido captain goes viral

Social media is all praise for the good samaritan Rapido auto captain who helped a passenger by returning his lost wallet. The video by the Hyderabad resident praising the Rapido auto captain identified as Naresh, went viral on social media over the last week of July.

Naresh went out of his way to return the wallet, reassuring Parv Sharma, the passenger who had lost the wallet. Parv was in distress, sporting a 102-degree fever at the time of the incident.

Narrating the experience over an Instagram video, Parv said that on July 24, because of his high fever and being unable to drive in that state, he and his wife hailed an auto using the Rapido app to travel to KIMS Hospital in Kondapur.

After consulting the doctor and collecting his medicines, Parv realised that he had left his wallet in the auto. Already dealing with fever, severe body pain and a headache, Parv said he panicked and immediately contacted the driver to check the back seat.

Naresh informed Parv that he had found the wallet and kept it safely with him. According to Parv , Naresh assured him over the phone, saying he would return the wallet after completing his ongoing rides, which he estimated would take around an hour to an hour and a half.

However, what left the strongest impression on Parv was the driver’s patience and transparency throughout the day. To reassure him that the wallet was safe, Naresh shared his live WhatsApp location for nearly eight to nine hours, allowing Parv to track his journey in real time.

Parv admitted that he called the driver at least 10 times out of anxiety. Despite the repeated calls, Naresh answered each one without disconnecting or showing any irritation, calmly updating him on his whereabouts every time. The wallet remained safely with the driver for nearly nine hours before it was returned with all its contents intact.

Calling Naresh “a very honest man”, Parv urged Rapido to recognise his efforts with a bonus or another form of appreciation. Sharing the video online, he wrote, “Thank you anna. Rapido, he needs reward and recognition. Please help him with what you can.”

Responding to the post, Rapido thanked Parv for sharing his experience and acknowledged the captain’s actions. “We’re glad to know that the captain promptly responded to your call, reassured you and safely returned your wallet. We truly appreciate captains who go the extra mile to support our customers. Your feedback means a lot to us, and we will ensure that this appreciation is shared with the concerned captain. The incident resonated with several social media users, many of whom praised Naresh’s honesty. One user commented that they had experienced a similar situation in which a Rapido driver ensured their belongings were returned safely. Another wrote, “Naresh, you have made Hyderabad proud. Good luck to you.” Others described the gesture as a reminder that honesty remains one of the rarest and most valuable qualities.
