Gujarat on high alert after bomb threat emails target CMO, AMC headquarters and RSS office

Gujarat's security agencies were placed on high alert after a series of bomb threat emails targeted key government and organisational establishments, including the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) headquarters, and an RSS office.

According to officials, the threatening emails, allegedly sent in the name of the "Khalistan National Army", warned of coordinated explosions at multiple locations in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, triggering an immediate security response.

The emails claimed that the Chief Minister's Office would be targeted at 1:11 pm, the AMC headquarters at 3:11 pm, and an RSS office at 5:11 pm. Following the threats, police, bomb disposal squads, fire brigade personnel, and cybercrime teams were deployed to the locations for extensive security checks.

The biggest impact was witnessed at the AMC headquarters in Danapith, where authorities evacuated the entire building as a precautionary measure. Senior civic officials, elected representatives, and staff members were moved out while security agencies conducted a thorough search of the premises.

The bomb scare coincided with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel being in New Delhi for official engagements, adding to the seriousness of the situation.

Investigators said the threatening emails were sent from multiple email accounts, raising concerns about a coordinated attempt to spread panic and disrupt public order. Cybercrime experts have launched an investigation to trace the origin of the messages and identify those responsible.

AMC Standing Committee Chairman Kamlesh Patel said authorities acted immediately after receiving the threat.

Officials confirmed that exhaustive searches at all targeted locations did not uncover any suspicious objects or explosive materials. While the threats currently appear to be a hoax, law enforcement agencies are treating the matter as a serious security and cybercrime offence.

Police are focusing on identifying the sender, tracing the source of the emails, and determining whether the threats were part of a larger conspiracy aimed at creating fear and instability in the state.

The investigation remains ongoing.
