FIR registered against Mamata Banerjee over alleged inflammatory speech in Kolkata

Fresh legal trouble has emerged for former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after an FIR was registered against her over an alleged inflammatory speech delivered during a public protest in Kolkata.
According to reports, a Kolkata resident filed a complaint accusing Banerjee of making remarks that allegedly had the potential to incite communal tensions and disturb public harmony. Acting on the complaint, police registered a case and initiated a preliminary investigation into the matter.
The FIR reportedly relates to comments made by Banerjee from a dharna stage in the city. The complainant alleged that the remarks were provocative in nature and could hurt religious sentiments. Authorities are examining the contents of the speech and the circumstances surrounding the complaint.
This is not the first legal challenge faced by the Trinamool Congress leader in recent weeks. Banerjee has been at the centre of several political and legal controversies following the recent political developments in West Bengal.
No official response from Banerjee or the Trinamool Congress had been reported immediately after the registration of the FIR. Police officials said the investigation will proceed in accordance with legal procedures.
The case is likely to intensify the political confrontation between the ruling BJP in West Bengal and the opposition Trinamool Congress ahead of upcoming political engagements in the state.
