Delhi repairs over 2,000 potholes ahead of monsoon, PWD intensifies road maintenance drive

The Delhi government has repaired more than 2,000 potholes across the city as part of an extensive pre-monsoon road maintenance campaign aimed at improving commuter safety and reducing traffic disruptions during the rainy season. The Public Works Department (PWD) has intensified inspections and repair work on major roads under its jurisdiction to ensure smoother travel conditions for residents.
According to officials, special teams have been deployed to identify damaged stretches of roads and carry out immediate repairs before heavy rainfall affects traffic movement. The department has also strengthened its monitoring mechanism, using field inspections and public feedback to address road-related complaints more efficiently.
Authorities said the initiative is part of a broader strategy to improve road infrastructure and minimise waterlogging-related damage during the monsoon months. Engineers and maintenance crews have been directed to remain on alert and respond quickly to emerging issues, particularly on high-traffic routes and vulnerable stretches.
The government has also encouraged citizens to report potholes and road damage through designated channels to help authorities take prompt corrective action. Officials believe that proactive maintenance and continuous monitoring will play a crucial role in ensuring safer roads and smoother transportation across the national capital during the monsoon season.
